Priyanka Chopra is an Indian Hindi film actress born on July 18, 1982. She is a former Miss India and Miss World (2000) who went on to do movies in the Hindi Film Industry.  Priyanka was born in the steel city of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand to Capt. Dr. Ashok Chopra and Dr.Madhu Akhauri. Both o them are doctors by profession. Priyanka's father was a surgeon in the Indian Army Medical Corps. She has a younger brother, Sidharth Chopra. Priyanka grew up in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. Priyanka is a good singer and occasionally writes poetry and short stories. While she was growing up she was keen to be a Software Engineer or a Criminal Psychologist. Though she made her acting debut with a movie from South India (Tamil film Thamizhan) in the year 2001 she actually made her entry into Bollywood via two movies - The Hero: Love Story of a Spy and Andaaz. Though Hero did not make the cash registers jingle, Andaz did quite well and she also won the new-comers award - Filmfare Best Female Debut Award.
